Vessel of Stories

A vessel is only as important as what it agrees to hold.

Geometric patterns are incised into clay. The pot is beautiful, but the beauty is not the point. This vessel was made to hold more than water. It was made to hold memory — of hands, of lineage, of the specific mathematical grace of African artistic traditions.

We are all, in our own small way, vessels of what has come through us. The stories we were told. The griefs we absorbed. The love that shaped us before we were old enough to know we were being shaped. Nothing about us is only ours.

This sculpture isn’t asking to be admired.

It’s asking to be recognised in you.

What is your life currently a vessel for — and is it holding what deserves to be held?
