Ancestral Voice

A Yoruba-inspired bronze mask holds a face made for ceremony. Facial scarification. An elaborate headdress. This is not decoration — it is a portal. The mask exists to remember something bigger than the person wearing it.

We are all wearing, in some form, our ancestors’ faces. Not literally. But in the way we hold anger. In what we forgive quickly. In the phrase that leaves our mouth in an argument that we have never actually said before in our life — because we didn’t say it. Someone else in us did.

This sculpture isn’t about the past.

It’s about who is speaking through you when you least expect it.
