Sacred Ground

“Some prayers do not use words.

Weathered hands press into the earth beneath an infinite sky. This gesture is older than any language it could be translated into. It was made before ceremony had a name, before continuity had to be argued for, before anyone needed to explain that the ground itself remembers.

We live inside cultures that have often forgotten how to be reverent. This image asks nothing of your beliefs. It simply asks you to notice what happens inside you when you see a person touching the earth as if it were listening.

This is not a photograph about faith.

It is a photograph about attention.
