After the Rain

“The storm passes. Life resumes. Both are miracles.

A village market street glistens after rain has moved through, and the world reflects itself back in every puddle. People return to what they were doing. Vendors reopen. A child steps out into a version of the same street that is somehow newly made.

We are taught to notice the storm. We are less often taught to notice what comes after — the ordinary, wondrous resumption of a life that could have been undone and simply, quietly, was not.

This photograph isn’t about weather.

It’s about the days after your own storms, when you looked around and realised the world was still there — and so were you.
