Songlines
“Some traditions are older than the tools we use to honour them.
Contemporary digital work made in the language of Aboriginal Australian dot painting — the world’s oldest continuing artistic tradition. New medium. Ancient grammar. The songlines that describe the land itself are still being sung.
We often speak about tradition and innovation as if they were rivals. This piece disagrees. Every deep tradition survives because the next generation chose to carry it into the tools of their own time. That is not betrayal. That is faithfulness.
This image isn’t about one culture.
It’s about how anything precious survives — by being renewed.
What tradition are you the current carrier of — and how are you translating it into the language of the life you actually live?”
