Cathedral of Trees

Some places make belonging feel obvious again.

Golden hour turns a forest into a cathedral. Light filters through the canopy the way a benediction falls — with no particular target, no requirement of the person receiving it. Every brushstroke carries the warmth of belonging to something older and larger than oneself.

We spend a great deal of energy asking whether we belong — to a family, to a friendship, to a version of a life. But there are places, and moments, that answer the question without our having asked. The forest does not need to know your name to hold you.

This painting isn’t about scenery.

It’s about the belonging that never had to be earned.

Where on this earth do you not have to explain yourself — and when did you last let yourself go there?
