The Quiet Before

The most vulnerable moment is often the one just before.

A dancer gathers herself in the warm glow of mirror lights. The performance has not yet begun. She is still, fully, a person. Not yet the artist. Not yet the role. Just a human being deciding to become something larger than herself, one more time.

We all live inside our own version of this. The pause before the meeting. The breath before the answer. The moment we look at our own reflection and quietly agree to walk out and be who the moment needs us to be.

This photograph isn’t about ballet.

It’s about the quiet second in you before every hard thing.

What mirror-lit moment did you have this week — and were you kind to yourself in it?
