“Not every loud thing is anger. Some loud things are life saying itself out loud.

A Māori Haka. Bodies coordinated. Faces intense. Hands synchronised in a gesture older than any of the men performing it. This is not aggression. This is life force being declared — with every stamp, an ancestor speaking through the feet of the person alive today.

We are trained to read intensity as threat. But some intensities are pure aliveness — the kind that used to be normal in cultures that had not yet been asked to be quiet. The Haka reminds us that being alive was never supposed to be a whisper.
