A b-boy is frozen in a dramatic freeze in New York City. Athletic. Precise. Improvised. This dance was invented by young people who had no permission to be in the room where art was being made — so they made the room outside, on concrete, with their own bodies.

We often talk about creativity as if it required the right conditions. Money. Space. Training. But some of the most important art in the world was made by people who refused to wait for the conditions to arrive. They made the conditions with what was already available.
