Estrogen is not a single hormone but a family (estradiol, estrone, estriol) with wide-ranging effects on brain, bone, cardiovascular, immune, and reproductive systems across the lifespan.

Estrogen is one of the most consequential and most under-taught hormones in modern medicine. Understanding its scope removes both stigma and simplification.

The Science

Estrogen receptors are found throughout the body and brain. Estradiol modulates mood, cognition, sleep, temperature regulation, cardiovascular function, and bone density. Fluctuations across cycle, pregnancy, and menopause produce predictable symptom patterns.
