Night Work

The most honest hours of a life often happen when the world has gone to sleep.

A single lamp finds a page. Hands fill it with sound that has not yet been heard by anyone. This is not glamorous. It is not efficient. It is the private work of translating the inaudible into something the world can share.

Everything we love — every song, every book, every product, every ordinary object in an ordinary room — came, at some point, from someone sitting alone in a small pool of light, trying. We often only see the finished thing. We forget the room it was made in.

This image isn’t about a composer.

It’s about your own small pool of light.

What are you making, quietly, that no one has yet seen — and are you honouring the room you are making it in?
