NSI does not begin in a vacuum. It sits on decades of neuroscience, psychology, medicine, behavioral science, and lived clinical experience. The Nirva Institute Evidence Library curates that record for the working researcher and clinician.
The Evidence Library
Fifty peer-reviewed papers, most published in the last three years, grouped into five mechanistic clusters: the bond chemistry (dopamine), the cortisol story (HPA-axis), the rescue loop (oxytocin & opioids), and the mind and body pathways that interrupt the cycle.
How we choose what we cite
- Peer-reviewed or preprint-with-primary-data. Editorial pieces are excluded.
- Recency: preference for the last 36 months; older work only when foundational.
- Mechanism-first: papers must illuminate a specific biological or behavioral mechanism, not just describe an outcome.
- Reproducibility: findings replicated or synthesized in a systematic review are prioritized.
- Transparency: we clearly separate established findings from Nirva Life’s synthesis and from proposed NSI models.
What the current evidence is
It is not proof of “NSI” as a formal medical discipline. NSI is an emerging interdisciplinary framework. What the evidence base supports is the underlying claim: the nervous system continuously interprets incoming information, produces predictions, coordinates physiology, and shapes what we come to call experience.
The Institute’s work is to make those mechanisms legible to the public, and to develop the conceptual infrastructure NSI will need to graduate from framework to field.
