Why we repeat the relational shapes we grew up inside.
The patterns that operate most powerfully in adult love are typically laid down in early relational experience. This is not a moral failing; it is how a developing nervous system encodes what safety and connection look like. Recognising the pattern is the beginning of choosing a different shape.
