Nirva Life publishes long-form, evidence-based writing about the nervous system. Every article is built on a foundation of peer-reviewed research, graded for strength of evidence, and written for intelligent adults who want accuracy over reassurance. This page describes how we evaluate claims, cite sources, correct errors, and disclose conflicts of interest.

We do not publish speculative wellness content disguised as science. We do not claim that mechanisms are proven when they remain theoretical. We do not cite studies we have not read. When evidence is strong, we say so. When it is preliminary, we say that too. The goal is not to persuade but to inform—to give readers the tools to understand what is known, what is emerging, and what remains hypothesis.

Our editorial standards are designed to serve two audiences: the general reader seeking clarity on complex topics, and the clinician or researcher evaluating whether our synthesis is defensible. We believe these audiences deserve the same rigor. This document explains how we achieve it.

Editorial standards are not ornamental. They determine whether a publication can be trusted, whether its claims can be repeated in clinical settings, and whether its synthesis of evidence respects the boundaries of what is actually known.

In the wellness and neuroscience space, those boundaries are routinely violated. Studies on rodents are presented as human proof. Correlational findings are described as causal. Theoretical frameworks are marketed as validated systems. The result is a landscape in which readers cannot distinguish between established science and aspirational interpretation—and clinicians cannot confidently recommend resources to patients.

Nirva Life was built to address this problem. We believe it is possible to write about the nervous system in a way that is both accessible and scientifically defensible. That requires transparency about evidence quality, precision in language, and a willingness to say when something is not yet known.

This matters for readers because it allows them to make informed decisions about their own nervous system care. It matters for clinicians because it provides a resource they can reference without disclaimers. And it matters for the field because it models a standard that other platforms might adopt.

We publish our editorial standards publicly because we believe accountability is a prerequisite for trust. If we make an error, we correct it visibly. If we overstate a claim, we revise it. If a conflict of interest exists, we disclose it. This page is both a commitment and an invitation: a commitment to rigor, and an invitation to hold us to it.

Nirva Life's editorial process is informed by established frameworks for evidence evaluation, including the GRADE system used in clinical guideline development (Guyatt et al., 2011) and the hierarchy of evidence described in systematic review methodology (Murad et al., 2016). We have adapted these frameworks to fit the interdisciplinary nature of nervous system science, which draws from neuroscience, psychology, physiology, and clinical practice.

Every substantive claim in a Nirva Life article is assigned an evidence grade. These grades are not subjective assessments; they reflect the type, quality, and consistency of the underlying research. A claim graded as ESTABLISHED_HUMAN_EVIDENCE is supported by multiple high-quality human studies, often including randomized controlled trials or large-scale observational work with consistent findings. A claim graded as EMERGING_HUMAN_EVIDENCE is supported by preliminary human data—perhaps a single trial, or correlational findings that have not yet been replicated. ANIMAL_MECHANISTIC_EVIDENCE indicates that the claim is based on non-human research, which may inform human hypotheses but cannot be presented as human proof. THEORETICAL_INTERPRETATION reflects a synthesis or interpretation that goes beyond the data, and NSI_HYPOTHESIS indicates a claim specific to the Nervous System Intelligence framework that is not yet independently validated (Porges, 2011; Thayer & Lane, 2009).

We prioritize peer-reviewed research from the last five years unless an older source is foundational. We do not cite preprints as established evidence, though we may reference them when discussing emerging areas. We do not cite industry-funded studies without disclosure, and we evaluate such studies with additional scrutiny (Lundh et al., 2017).

Our citation policy requires that every reference be read in full by the author and reviewed by an editor. We do not cite abstracts alone, and we do not rely on secondary summaries. When a study's findings are more limited than its abstract suggests—a common occurrence in neuroscience—we reflect that limitation in our language (Dwan et al., 2013).

We also distinguish between mechanistic plausibility and clinical evidence. A mechanism may be well-established at the cellular level but lack human outcome data. In such cases, we describe the mechanism accurately but do not claim that it translates to functional benefit. This distinction is critical in nervous system science, where the gap between bench and bedside remains wide (Hyman, 2012).

Our correction policy is public and permanent. If an error is identified—whether by internal review, reader feedback, or new evidence—we correct the article and append a dated note describing the change. We do not silently edit. We do not remove critiques. Transparency is not optional.

Nervous System Intelligence is a synthesis framework, not a validated clinical model. It draws on established findings in polyvagal theory, heart rate variability research, interoception science, and autonomic physiology to propose a unified way of understanding nervous system health. Many of the individual components—vagal tone, HRV as a biomarker, interoceptive accuracy—are supported by robust evidence. The synthesis itself, however, is a hypothesis.

This distinction is central to Nirva Life's editorial approach. We do not claim that NSI is proven. We claim that it is useful—a lens through which disparate findings can be organized and applied. When we write about NSI, we grade claims accordingly. A statement about vagal influence on heart rate variability is ESTABLISHED_HUMAN_EVIDENCE. A statement about how NSI integrates that finding into a broader model of nervous system flexibility is NSI_HYPOTHESIS.

This does not diminish the value of the framework. Hypotheses are essential in science. They guide research, organize clinical thinking, and generate testable predictions. But they must be labeled as such. Readers and clinicians deserve to know when they are engaging with established science and when they are engaging with interpretation.

Nirva Life's editorial standards are designed to hold this tension. We write about NSI with confidence in its coherence and utility, but we do not overstate its empirical status. We cite the foundational research that informs it, and we acknowledge where the framework extends beyond that research. This is not hedging. It is precision.

For clinicians, editorial standards are not abstract. They determine whether a resource can be integrated into practice, referenced in patient education, or cited in professional writing.

Nirva Life is designed to meet that standard. Every article includes inline citations, evidence grades, and a reference list that can be independently verified. Clinicians can trace a claim back to its source, evaluate the quality of that source, and decide whether the claim is appropriate for their context.

This is particularly important in fields where patient demand outpaces clinical evidence. Patients often arrive with questions about vagal tone, nervous system regulation, or polyvagal-informed interventions. Clinicians need resources that can answer those questions accurately—without overstating the evidence and without dismissing legitimate interest.

Nirva Life provides that middle ground. We do not claim that every intervention is proven, but we do not dismiss emerging evidence as irrelevant. We describe what is known, what is plausible, and what remains uncertain. This allows clinicians to have informed conversations with patients, to recommend practices that are supported by evidence, and to set realistic expectations about outcomes.

Our disclosure policy also matters for clinical use. We do not accept industry funding for editorial content. We do not publish sponsored articles disguised as journalism. If a financial relationship exists, it is disclosed. Clinicians can trust that the information they are reading is not shaped by commercial interest.

Finally, our correction policy ensures that clinicians are not citing outdated or erroneous information. If new evidence changes our assessment of a claim, we update the article and note the change. This is standard practice in clinical guidelines; it should be standard practice in health media as well.

For readers, editorial standards translate into trust. You should be able to read a Nirva Life article and know that the claims are defensible, the citations are real, and the language reflects the actual state of the evidence.

This means you will not encounter exaggerated promises. You will not read that a practice is "scientifically proven" unless the evidence supports that phrase. You will not be told that a mechanism is established in humans when it has only been studied in animals. You will not be sold certainty where uncertainty exists.

What you will encounter is clarity. When evidence is strong, we say so. When it is preliminary, we explain what that means. When a claim is part of the NSI framework but not yet independently validated, we label it as hypothesis. This allows you to make decisions based on accurate information rather than marketing language.

You can also expect consistency. Every article follows the same structure, uses the same evidence grading system, and adheres to the same citation standards. This makes it easier to compare claims across articles and to understand how different pieces of evidence fit together.

If you find an error, you can report it. If new evidence emerges, we will update the article. If you want to verify a claim, you can follow the citation to the original source. These are not features. They are obligations.
