Definition

The scientific limitations of epigenetics concern where the current evidence base is strong, weak, or absent — and how to talk about the field with appropriate humility.

Why it matters

The field is real. Its limits are also real. Naming both is scientific and clinical integrity.

The Science

Strong evidence: some environmental exposures affect gene expression; some effects are reversible; aging has measurable epigenetic signatures. Weaker or contested: transgenerational transmission in humans; specific supplement-mediated “reprogramming”; consumer test interpretability for individual decisions.
