Definition

Menstrual cycles are a coordinated hormonal sequence with real effects on mood, cognition, sleep, and physiology across the roughly 28-day cycle. Cycle-related symptoms are legitimate physiology.

Why it matters

Cycle-related complaints have been minimized in medicine for decades. Taking them seriously is basic clinical dignity.

The Science
