People with complex trauma need care that meets the specifics of their history. Assuming translation from one population to another can harm rather than help.

Most published trials have studied single-index-trauma PTSD populations. Generalizability to complex trauma requires additional research and careful clinical adaptation.

NSI is careful about extending findings across populations. Complex trauma often requires longer preparation and slower pacing than shorter-course protocols allow.

Screening should identify complex trauma explicitly and adjust preparation and integration accordingly.
