Injury Recovery

Injury Recovery within movement science and rehabilitation — the science, the human experience, and why it belongs inside a Nervous System Intelligence framework.

Definition

Injury recovery is the multi-stage process of tissue healing, sensorimotor recalibration, and confidence restoration. It is more than tissue repair.

Why it matters

Understanding recovery as more than tissue clarifies why some recoveries stall despite scans looking normal.

The Science

Tissue healing follows biological timelines. Neural, emotional, and confidence recovery may take longer. Fear-avoidance and central sensitization can prolong disability.

The NSI Perspective

NSI treats injury recovery as whole-nervous-system recovery.

Clinical Implications

Care that addresses only tissue often produces incomplete recovery.

Practical Application

Tissue heals on its own timeline. The nervous system’s trust in the tissue often heals more slowly — and needs its own care.
