Definition

Exercise dosing is the deliberate calibration of frequency, intensity, time, and type (FITT) of physical activity to match the person and goal. Dose matters as much as any medication.

Why it matters

Wrong dose (too little, too much, wrong type) is one of the most common causes of exercise failure and injury.

The Science

Exercise dose–response relationships are well documented across cardiovascular, cognitive, mental-health, and rehabilitation outcomes.
