Definition

Sleep predictability is the pattern of consistent timing, environment, and cues that helps the nervous system prepare for and enter sleep reliably. It is more powerful than any single sleep hack.

Why it matters

The nervous system loves predictability. Small consistencies, repeated, outperform elaborate but sporadic sleep routines.

The Science

Regular sleep timing is independently associated with better health outcomes, sometimes stronger than sleep duration alone. Circadian entrainment, conditioning, and reduced sleep-onset latency all benefit from predictability.
