Definition

Nervous System Intelligence uses attachment as one of its foundational lenses. It explains why relationships are physiological, why co-regulation is ordinary, and why change is possible in relationship.

Why it matters

Naming attachment as central to NSI clarifies what the framework is and is not.

The Science

Attachment integrates neurobiological, developmental, and clinical research into a coherent whole. NSI draws on this integration.

The NSI Perspective

NSI treats attachment as one of its three or four central pillars. Everything else — emotion, memory, patterns — lives inside relationship.

Clinical Implications

Clinicians using NSI framing routinely address attachment as an integrated part of any presenting concern.

Practical Application

When you observe yourself, include your relationships in the observation. Your nervous system is always in a context.

How much of what you just read named something you already know inside your own body?

How much did this open a new question you didn’t have before?
