Nature, Place, and Ambient Regulation
Forest bathing, awe, and environments the body reads as safe.
The nervous system does not evaluate a place the way the mind does. It reads a specific vocabulary of environmental cues — visual complexity, non-threatening sound, moving water, soft light — and settles in response to some environments and remains vigilant in others. The evidence for the effect is now robust.
