Predicting the future of a field is a hazardous exercise. What is more reliable is naming the trajectories: subtype-resolved atlases, glial-aware therapeutic strategies, integration of astrocyte biology into psychiatric research, and cross-species translation.

Reasonable trajectories

Astrocyte atlases will become more detailed, and glia-aware therapeutics will move from preclinical to translational settings for select conditions.183,180
